Cycling from Navas del Selpillar to Puente Genil
I stayed in Navas del Selpillar, Spain 🖱️ for about four months since I liked it there and managed to rent a small winterappartment. That fourth month was necessary since it brought a Lot of Rain, even for a whole week. I was Very Glad I wasn't in my tent that week ...
Spanish newspapers stated that those six days of rain secured the region of Cordoba to have six years of drinkingwater from it's embalses. In other words the Cordoba region obviously needs only one day of rainfall per year to survive whole that year. Really ???
But Today Was the Day !
As usual at the first day of a new year of cycling I needed quite some time to pack all stuff. But once pedalling I enjoyed this Via Verde del Aceite ! Also while knowing I would cycle only a 📏 short distance today, and descending (in average).
There were a few tempting sideroads, but I kept to my plan to cycle straight on.
The only contructionsign I saw for very many years Without the EU being mentioned as the Great Sponsor ...
In the meantime the temperature was pleasant. It was several degrees more "cold" then it used to be in the weeks past (when not raining).
I cycled in Puente Genil
and had my first 🍺 cana (small beer) of 2024 on a terrass, accompanied by a first 😋 tapa. Then I ordered 😄 another "set".
I had prepared an intown roundgoing gps-track to judge four potential campingspots. The first one was way to far down, where I was already descending, and I didn't see a road leading down there anyway.
The second one was at the other side of the river and was situated just behind some open-air 🔊 factory and an 🫒 agricultural area. Since I arrived at a friday-afternoon it was unpredictable how the situation would be there starting mondaymorning concerning noise.
The point was that I had descended very steeply over some 50vms in just about 500mts. I would not manage to ascend that track anymore to have a look at the other two campspots I had marked.
But I found a nice campingspot there in an oliveyard, where else, and decided to pitch my tent here.

Today I cycled only 22kms with 52vms. It was an an easy day since this very last stretch of the Via Verde del Aceite that I cycled is descending in average in this direction. I had planned to visit Puente Genil last year already but decided to have my winterstop before I reached it. So this first day of cycling in 2024 was actually the remaining part of my 2023 year of YesTrip.nl. That's 😀 why.
